Florida Governor Rick Scott honored two sheriff’s deputies Thursday with a Medal of Heroism.

Deputies Matt Hedges and Brandon Sheffield were responding to a house fire last February when they heard a man’s cries for help. The deputies protected him from the fire until it was safe for him to be moved. Though the victim suffered severe burns, he survived. Governor Scott honored the deputies at a Florida Cabinet meeting.
