Plans for a new artistic amenity in Tallahassee were announced this Thursday. A new sculpture will soon be added to Cascades Park as part of the #iHeartTally campaign.
The Knight Creative Communities Institute is showcasing its plans for a new structure in Cascades Park. The sculpture will spell out TLH in steel-finished letters. The project was funded by community donors and the non-profit Community Foundation of North Florida. Mayor Andrew Gillum thinks the structure will motivate both community members and visitors to explore downtown Tallahassee.
“It’s just another way for us to continue to brand this community as a wonderful place to live, to work, to play, to visit," Gillum says.
The sculpture is just the latest addition to the #iHeartTally campaign.
Commissioner Nick Maddox says Leon County has seen unprecedented growth in tourism. He believes the sign will enhance Tallahassee’s sense of identity and boost visibility on social media. The sign will go up in April.
