Florida's Elections Chief Hoping For Record-Breaking Voter Turnout In 2016

MGN Online

Florida’s election chief is expecting a huge turnout in the 2016 elections.

Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner says it’s become part of the social experience for people to vote earlier than Election Day.

“I’m proud to say that for the first time in the history of Florida in 2014, more people voted early and by mail, than actually voted on Election Day,” said Detzner, during a recent press conference. “So, I’m expecting that trend to continue.”

Detzner says he’s thankful lawmakers allowed local supervisors of elections to extend early voting days and locations. He adds he’s hopeful the turnout for the upcoming election breaks records as well.
