Capital City Honors its Hurricane Heroes

Tom Flanigan

A community party to show appreciation for all those who helped before during and after Hurricane Hermine took place at Tallahassee's Tom Brown Park on Sunday (10/2).

The "Picnic in the Park" featured free music, hot dogs and hamburgers, demonstrations by City Electric Crews on how they repaired the storm damage and Deputy City Manager Reese Goad was happy to see many hundreds of everyday Tallahasseeans enjoying the occasion along with all the city and county employees.

"That's what you see is that the folks who are here - even those who are working - they're able to enjoy the company of their neighbors. It's a beautiful day and we've got a great turnout, so it's positive all the way around."

Meanwhile, another Hurricane called Matthew is in the Caribbean. Goad said, if it should brush any part of Florida, Tallahassee crews are ready to help.
