50 Great Teachers Project
50 Great Teachers, an ambitious year-long series from NPR's Education Desk launches on Morning Edition. Throughout the school year the reporting team will celebrate great teachers past and present -- and report on what makes teaching great. Look for a mix of stories to air on NPR's newsmagazines, as well as online profiles with explanatory reporting and personal stories at http://www.npr.org/blogs/ed/. The 50 Great Teachers project kicks off with NPR's Eric Westervelt's report on Socrates, the ancient world's superstar teacher. He also visits two schools in the San Francisco Bay area that use the Socratic method. Online, blogger Anya Kamenetz asks teachers: What is great teaching?
