Rural communities throughout Florida are set to get a boost in funds. That includes the city of Perry, Jefferson County, and the town of Havana.
The city of Perry is set to receive nearly $87,000 to complete environmental surveying for Gram’s Legacy Cove, a planned 271-acre industrial park. Jefferson County is on deck for $65,000 to assist with the development of an economic strategy. And, the town of Havana is getting $75,000 to help digitize land use maps and update land use regulations.
The North Florida Economic Development Partnership is also among the recipient, with $75,000 earmarked to help create a unified economic development strategy across 14 counties in North Florida.
The funding comes through the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant and Community Planning Technical Assistance Grant programs. In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis said the money will support infrastructure and community development projects across rural Florida.
The funds are earmarked for 23 communities and total just over $15.6 million statewide.
