Plagued by bad spring weather over the past few years, Tallahassee's Southern Shakespeare Festival moved to an earlier date this year. But heavy thunderstorms sent Saturday night's performance racing for a dryer venue.
As the evening's deluge moved in, Southern Shakespeare Executive Director Bianca Montague said the production moved out, from Cascades Park to Theatre Tallahassee on Thomasville Road. Of course, the play just HAD to be "The Tempest."
"We picked this play and we all giggled about it last season and here we are; at our Plan B Rain Plan at Theatre Tallahassee."
Even as the performers were doing a hasty run-through of some key scenes onstage, a huge audience was lining up in the rain, social media having alerted them to the relocation. But the showers were gone by Sunday morning and the production returned to the Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park for the festival finale.
