Browning will replace Mark Newberry in August, officials say.

Last October, WFSU reported that Dr. Mark Newberry, Havana’s only primary care physician, would be retiring.

His retirement would leave 2,000 patients without a doctor. Now, four months later, officials have found his replacement.

Havana's Mayor Eddie Bass told WFSU on Wednesday that it’s Camron Browning, MD, a family physician at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

“It was very important to the town to find a doctor," he said. "We had citizens that were very worried and luckily, we got one coming in.”

Browning is a Havana native, who works in TMH’s Family Medicine Residency Program. He attended the University of Florida and obtained his medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine.

According to officials, Browning will work out of the town’s medical facility after the building "undergoes maintenance."
