Some schools in the Big Bend are reopening Friday. Others are waiting until next week.

  • Wakulla County Schools are beginning to reopen following Tuesday's winter storm.
  • All schools in the district regained power Wednesday night.
  • Wakulla Schools will reopen Friday, Jan. 24

SEE FULL PRESS RELEASE BELOW:

Thank you to all of our community partners who ensured we are able to safely reopen schools. All schools had power restored in under 24 hours, and as of this afternoon, roadways are sufficiently clear for transportation.

Please exercise caution in the morning as some limbs are still lower than before the storm, and there are many fallen branches just off roadways.

Our transportation staff will be mindful of these concerns and may be slightly behind the normal schedule to prioritize student safety.

School staff will ensure breakfast is still provided to each student if routes are delayed so there is no need to rush unnecessarily.
