Commissioners outlined the hiring process on Tuesday.

Gadsden County has started its search for a new county administrator. The position has been open since November.

Commissioner Ronterious Green said on Tuesday that he wants to see it filled sooner rather than later.

“We really need to make sure that we are putting forward every effort that we can, to have a qualified candidate that will help us continue to move forward," said Green.

At Tuesday's workshop, county officials outlined qualifications for the job, including requiring candidates to have a 700 credit score or higher, on top of years of governmental and budgeting experience.

The position will be posted on the county’s website for 45 days. After that, the county will spend 10 days vetting candidates, before they start the interview process.

The search for a new county administrator comes after the board terminated former Gadsden County Administrator Edward Dixon after he served in the position for four years.

County commissioners did not say why they thought Dixon should be fired. But before the board voted, Dixon said he felt like he was being attacked by people on the board.

“I’m not ashamed of trying to move this county forward…that was my job,” Dixon said back in November.

The board turned the County Administrator position over to the county’s building official Roosevelt Morris, until the commission can find someone to take over the role permanently.
