Students are turning out to vote at Leon County's FAMU and FSU campuses

Student voting is high at Florida State University and Florida A&M University, says Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley.

As of 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the overall turnout in Leon County was nearly 32 percent, and Earley was happy to see the FSU and FAMU voting sites doing a brisk business as well, roughly 10 percent.

“This is maybe some of the highest student voting I’ve seen," he said. "The early voting site over at FSU campus is doing really phenomenally well. It started strong and it’s just stayed consistently strong. Wednesday was the highest day, over a thousand. But it’s been over 800 every single day this week.”

Earley encourages students to cast their ballots during Early Voting because many of them are doing address changes from their home counties, where they’re registered, to Leon County, where they’re students. He says they have extra staff to handle the changes and they’re keeping busy.
