What's next for FSU football after suffering a loss to Duke in Week 8?

The five remaining games are a must-win for head coach Mike Norvell.

For the first time in four years, the Florida State football team (1-6, 1-5 ACC) could miss postseason play.

FSU lost its sixth-game of the season Friday night at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, North Carolina to Duke (6-1, 2-1 ACC), 23-16.

Duke ended a 22-game losing streak against the Seminoles. The loss also makes the five remaining games a must-win for FSU head coach Mike Norvell.

“This is not my first year of ever doing. I’ve done it quite a bit. We’ve actually got more personnel than what I’ve ever been able to have on the offensive staff. We just haven’t been able to do a good enough job," Norvell said after practice Monday.

Is it too late to make a postseason push?
The Seminoles are 1-7.

The team must secure six (6) wins in order to become bowl eligible. According to ESPN's FPI, FSU has only a 5.5% chance of making a bowl game this year.

Since taking over for an injured DJ Uiagalelei, Quarterback Brock Glenn has completed 32 of his 60 pass attempts for 338 yards, and thrown two touchdowns.

On Friday night, a kickoff return for a touchdown opened the second half and kept it a one-score game for much of the game, but FSU's comeback efforts fell short on the road.

Remaining Florida State football schedule 2024

  • November 9: at Notre Dame, 7:30 p.m.

FSU is on the road again next weekend, at Miami (7-0, 3-0) on October 26. Kickoff in Miami Gardens, Florida, is at 7 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
