The future of flight is electric. That's the prediction from many aviation experts. And when that future arrives, Tallahassee International Airport is now ready to give it a powerful welcome.

The first real passenger flight in an electric plane happened only 2 years ago. But Chris Caputo, a pilot with BETA Technologies, a company that's advancing the state-of-the art, said electric-powered aircraft will soon be commonplace.

"Our first pre-certified aircraft will be coming off the production line later this year and we're working incredibly hard to make this new form of aviation and transportation incredibly reliable, low cost, effective for business, good for the environment and incredibly safe."

On Wednesday, September 18, Caputo and other BETA team members joined City of Tallahassee leaders to officially open an electric aircraft charging station. It's located in the general aviation area of Tallahassee International Airport and is the 4th such facility in Florida.
