Florida A&M rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to beat Norfolk.

Florida A&M University’s football program secured its first win of the season. The Rattlers beat Norfolk State University 24-23 on the road Saturday in the 2024 MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff.

It was the first win for first-year head coach James Colzie III.

“I thought our offense did a really good job of answering once we got down 14-0. They let us get our wits and ultimately, it was a great football game," Colzie said after the game.

FAMU Quarterback Daniel Richardson was named MVP of the game for his three touchdown passes.

The win improved Florida A&M's record to 1-0 on the season while the Spartans fell to 0-1.

“Going 1-0 was the end goal we intended to hope for," said Colzie. "After watching the film and looking at some of our mistakes, I think we’re excited but also extremely lucky to be at that point."

FAMU looks to carry the momentum into Saturday’s home opener against South Carolina State.
