Deputy Dylan Gentry was arrested Friday.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy has been fired for allegedly street racing and tampering with evidence.

Dylan Gentry, 25, a deputy at Okaloosa since 2021, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, racing, and tampering with evidence while operating a motorcycle, according to an OCSO news release.

Gentry was arrested on Friday by the Fort Walton Police Department shortly after midnight.

“Needless to say, such allegations are unacceptable and deeply disappointing,” the Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden said in a statement.

Gentry had been with the agency for three years.

“His actions are not representative of the professionalism and commitment to excellence we expect of our team, and we commend our colleagues in Fort Walton Beach for their diligence,” OCSO said in a press release.

While at Okaloosa, Gentry earned the department’s Life Saving Award and a Commendation Award for Community Service.
