Lieutenant Kenneth Lewis, of the Havana Police Department, has been promoted to Chief.

The longtime law enforcer served as the town’s interim police chief after former Havana chief Tracy Smith retired last December after serving 34 years in law enforcement.

Havana Town Manager Kendrah Wilkerson broke the news of Lewis’ promotion on the town’s Facebook page last Wednesday.

"Thank you to the citizens of Havana, Havana Town Council, and Havana Town Manager Kendrah Wilkerson," Chief Lewis commented. "I will work diligently on your behalf. I would also like to give a big thank you to our officers and dispatchers."
