Florida A&M University (FAMU) is receiving $50 million from the state. The allocation comes a week after Governor Ron DeSantis signed Florida’s $116.5 billion budget.
FAMU announced on Tuesday how it plans to spend its share.
“We thank the Governor, Legislature, Board of Governors, FAMU Board of Trustees (BOT) and all of our stakeholders for ensuring that FAMU gets the funding we need to enhance our student success initiatives,” Florida A&M President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., said in a statement.
FAMU’s spending plan includes $5 million to expand the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and investing $1 million into its nursing program. The rest of the money will go toward improving student graduation and retention rate as well as for faculty recruitment and retention.
