Jackson County Sheriff Donald Edenfield has been training deputies for 20 years.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a course for civilians on firearm safety on Saturday, June 22.

Sheriff Donald Edenfield made the announcement last Saturday during his weekly 'Sit Down With The Sheriff' show on Facebook. He said JCSO, along with Chipola College, will be hosting the course at the Chipola College Reddoch Range.

“Those who participate in the course, are now more knowledge and more comfortable with their handgun," he said. "I encourage all law-biding citizens to become familiar with a gun.”

Registration is free. Participants will learn about how to properly unload and load a firearm, trigger control, and proper storage.
They will also have the opportunity to test-fire multiple types of firearms.

The event takes place at the Chipola College Reddoch Range in Marianna, at 10 a.m.
