FAMU has already won its first two tournament games and is set to play again tonight. To open the SWAC Tournament, the east one-seed FAMU (27-25) took on the fourth seed in the west bracket, Southern (22-27), in a double-elimination contest. FAMU won the game 8-5.

In the 2nd round, FAMU dominated Grambling State 17-7 thanks to four hits by senior Ty Jackson. FAMU will take on the winner of Grambling State vs Alabama State tonight at 6 p.m.

"I am so happy to see them progressing at each and every stage," said fellow FAMU student-athlete Norman Mukwada, who runs track.

"We pray to God so they can lift the trophy again and bring the trophy home," he said.

Tournament games can be watched on the SWAC Digital Network and ESPN+ will be carrying the championship game on Sunday, at 1 p.m.

FAMU is looking to become the first team to win back-to-back conference titles since Southern in 2019 and 2021. COVID-19 canceled the 2020 season.

Although the Rattlers won the regular season title, they will have to win in the tournament to receive an automatic bid to represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament.

The SWAC tournament runs through May 26.
