The author of an all-Florida wildlife overview will visit Tallahassee

Tom Flanigan

Florida has a greater variety of eco-systems and wildlife than any other state. The author of a new book that delves deeply into that natural diversity will be in Tallahassee later this week.

Kirsten Hines is a celebrated naturalist, as well as a writer and photographer. She said she spent months covering every corner of the state, taking pictures and documenting habitat to create the book, "Wild Florida - An Animal Odyssey."

"I had a different understanding, largely because I spent all of that time taking pictures, so a lot of the text is very intimately linked to the pictures."

Hines will discuss her work this Thursday evening, Jan. 18 at 6:30 in Midtown Reader.
