The 5th person charged in the murder-for-hire of FSU law professor Dan Markel was arraigned Monday afternoon in a Leon County courtroom. Markel’s ex-mother-in-law Donna Adelson pleaded not guilty.

Adelson was arrested last month in Miami as she and her husband were about to board a plane. They were ultimately heading to Vietnam, a country with no extradition treaty with the United States.

Today, her son Charlie Adelson will be sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of the same charges she’s facing: first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation. Three other suspects were also convicted of those charges and are behind bars.

Markel was shot at his Betton Hills home in 2014 as he was engrossed in a child custody battle with his ex-wife Wendi Adelson, Donna’s daughter.
