The City of Quincy is partnering with local churches to host cold weather shelters as temperatures drop this year. The shelters will house, feed, and provide blankets to those in need.

The city began this initiative years ago and this year, they look to bring even more resources to the community.

“We want to make sure that everyone in the community is safe and warm, especially on those very, very cold nights," Robert Nixon, Quincy’s city manager said. We host this generally at our recreation center, but we also have partnerships with churches in the area to also provide some space support and often support with food and other goods.”

The shelter, which runs out of Quincy’s Joe Ferolito Recreation Center, will begin taking citizens Thursday at 6:30p.m. and will remain open until Friday morning. This will be the second time this year the shelter has been available, with more dates pending.

For more information about Quincy's cold weather shelter, you can call the City of Quincy at 850-875-7315 or 850-875-7321.
