A musical staple of the holiday season will be performed in Tallahassee this weekend. Tom Flanigan spoke with the director of ballet for the Pas de Vie Dance School, which is staging the production.
Since Tchaikovsky wrote it in 1892, this music has been synonymous with the year-end holidays. ("Nutcracker" music plays.) And for the past 35 years, Tallahassee's Pas de Vie Ballet, co-owned by Charles Hagan, whose students have been performing the Nutcracker Ballet each year.
"It's enjoybable for both the children and adults and our version of it has something for everybody. We have them as young as 5 years old, all the way up to those who've been dancing with us for many years."
An abbreviated kids' performance happens this Saturday morning at 10:30. The full ballet is Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 2:30. All in the Lee Hall Auditorium on the FAMU campus.
"We've been doing it there for years and it's a very good venue for what this performance is."
