Gadsden County Sheriff's deputies show off one of six new patrol SUVs, which feature the name of every community in the county across the vehicle.

Local and state officials join commissioners for the groundbreaking ceremony.

On Tuesday, Gadsden County Commissioners broke ground on what will become the site of the county’s newest public safety building.

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, which houses the current Emergency Operations Center, is over 70 years old and officials say it’s no longer up to code to withstand the next major hurricane.

The new building which will sit in Quincy, will serve as the next home for the Gadsden County Sheriff’s office and will include a 9-1-1 communications center, emergency management operations and other services to better support local law enforcement.

Gadsden’s latest investment was funded by state lawmakers who allocated over $10 million last year as part of the state’s Division of Emergency Management.
