All three suspects were arrested Oct. 17

A Tallahassee woman is behind bars after she and three other suspects were arrested last week for stealing personal identification information to fraudulently fill out voter petitions.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says LaShaya Denice Pierce, 33, was a paid campaign worker whose job was to collect signatures from voters for petitions.

The state launched an investigation in January 2022. Officials say Pierce falsified petitions and used the personal identification information from social media users without their consent.

Investigators also say Pierce’s petitions that she turned into the Leon County Supervisor of Elections office, all had issues that raised red flags. Some of the petitions had similar handwriting, others did not have a valid signature or voter information.

Pierce faces multiple charges including fraudulent use of personal identification information. She is being held on a $38,000 bond at the Leon County Jail.
