Tallahassee will host this year’s high school football state title games. The Florida High School Athletic Association has announced on Thursday that the championship games will be played in Florida A&M’s Bragg Memorial Stadium. It will be the university’s first time hosting the event in nearly 50 years, with the option to host more in the future.

FAMU’s Athletic Director Tiffany-Dawn Sykes says the event will give players from all over the state a chance to see the stadium’s latest improvements.

“This gives us an opportunity to showcase our newly named Ken Riley Field to Bragg Memorial Stadium including our state-of-the-art video board which will be on full display for everyone to see,” said Sykes.

Leon County’s Tourism Division projects the games will attract 30,000 people and bring the county an additional $11 million in revenue.

County officials will meet in October for a final approval of the funding agreement. The title games will take place December 7th-9th.
