It’s been months since Amazon completed the construction of its $200 million fulfillment center but companywide staff shortages and supply chain issues have kept the doors closed—until now.

The company will open the Mahan location in mid-September. Tallahassee Economic Vitality Director Keith Bowers made the announcement during the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Conference last weekend.

In a previous interview with WFSU, Bowers called the project a "great economic development driver."

“We’re thrilled to be a part of it and we hope everyone takes advantage of these opportunities and learn more about what it’s like to work at a fulfillment center for Amazon and then also what the benefits are,” said Bowers.

According to Amazon, the 630,000 square foot facility will generate over 1,300 full-time warehouse jobs and offer pay rates starting at $16 an hour. The Office of Economic Vitality predicts the center will bring $451 million to the capital city.

There’s been no word on when or if the other location on Capital Circle will open.
