Florida A&M University is adding a new face to its women’s basketball team. Hall of Famer and former WNBA player Bridgette Gordon is the team’s new head coach. The hire comes after former coach Shalon Pillow resigned earlier this month.

The Rattlers held a press conference Friday to formally introduce their new coach to the capital city. Gordon says she’s looking forward to working with the team.

“I got into coaching because I loved the game," said Gordon. "I love to teach, l love to make other people better, I love empowering young people. That’s exactly who I am, who I’ve been, and who I will be as your head coach.”

The 2-time Collegiate National Champion and 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist becomes the eighth women's basketball head coach in the program’s history.

Gordon's official start date is set for August 14th, just in time to kick off Fall training camp.
