Florida A&M University’s Developmental Research School is kicking off its inaugural Sports Hall of Fame this weekend. The nominees are past coaches, teams, and players.

FAMU DRS is home to the city’s only three-peat champions in girls’ basketball, collegiate All-Americans, and a former NBA champion.

“Those persons will be recognized and awarded for their record sets for moving forward and representing FAMU High and as an alum,” said Roger Walker, a high school administrator and the HOF Executive Board Chair.

The ceremony will honor a dozen DRS alums. With the school coming off the loss of two coaching legends in Harry Jacobs and Ahmad Aliyy earlier this year, Walker says the event is a day of remembrance and meant to inspire the next line of baby Rattlers.

“For our more modern-day baby rattlers, this gives them something to look forward to, something to feel proud of and increase their pride in FAMU DRS,” said Walker.

The induction ceremony starts Saturday, July 8th at 4:00p.m. Tickets are $75 per person, or $600 for a table of eight.
