Florida A&M is receiving a bump in performance-based funding from the Florida Board of Governors.
The state’s only public historically black university took home $29.3 million partly due to rising graduation rates. That's something that FAMU’s newly hired Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Allyson Watson says she wants to improve on.
“Academic excellence, student success, leveraging the brand, [and] operational efficiency transformation," said Watson. "All of those five key initiatives that we’re launching are integral to the success of our colleges and schools."
At Monday’s senior leadership meeting, Watson said that the University will welcome another 300 freshmen to the campus in the next few weeks.
