Florida State’s Softball team has earned its first Women’s College World Series opening round victory in more than a decade.

The team won 8-0 Thursday against the Oklahoma Cowgirls. During a press conference following the game, FSU’s head coach Lonni Alameda talked about what it means to shutout the sixth-seed Oklahoma State on the road.

“Being able to play here was a really good experience for us. This is where every team wants to be, is to be here playing in Oklahoma City and ending their career," said Alameda.

The Seminoles will have another chance to build on their victory this Saturday. The Noles will face the winner of this afternoon’s game between Washington and Utah.
