The number of city parks in Tallahassee is closing in on the century mark. The city's newest, and one of its largest parks, officially opened on Saturday.

More than 100 people were on hand for the opening ceremoney, which included cutting a rope adorned with pickleballs, rather than the traditional ribbon.

"One, two, three." (SNIP, following by crowd cheering)

The 43 acre Four Oaks Park is at the corner of Tram Road and Four Oaks Boulevard. It has lots of courts and fields for various sports, including pickleball. And City Parks and Recreation Director Ashley Edwards said it has a really unique feature: a field for cricket matches.

"I'm so glad to see so many friends from the cricket community that are out here and I know you guys have been waiting for this a long time!"

And Mayor John Dailey said even more parks are in the works.

"The completion of the Four Oaks (Park) marks another milestone towards the city's goal of 100 parks by our bicentennial next year. This is park number 94 and we will hit our mark.

Four Oaks brings the city's total park acreage to nearly 4,000 and encompassing more than 70 miles of trails.
