For the third time in the new school year, a teenager has been arrested for having a firearm on Leon County school grounds.
The School Resource Deputy at Leon High School arrested a 17-year-old Tuesday for having a loaded gun.
While school administrators were investigating a separate incident involving the student, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office says he admitted to having the Glock 22 in his backpack.
He was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center and charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Property.
The sheriff’s office says no students or staff were threatened.
Previous gun arrests in the new school year happened at Godby High School and at Gene Cox Stadium during a football game.
