David O’Keefe and Paula DeBoles-Johnson will face off in November for County Commission District 5—the seat currently held by mayoral candidate Kristin Dozier. O’keefe took about 27% of the vote Tuesday while DeBoles-Johnson won about 26%. O’Keefe said now that the field has shrunk from four to two candidates, he’s looking forward to voters getting to know him better.
“With so many candidates in primary elections, everyone only got little snippets of each candidate, and now with just two candidates in the race, and two candidates in any other races that go to run off, the voters are going to get to learn a lot more about us," O'Keefe said from his campaign office Tuesday evening. "I think that what we’ve seen are the voters in Leon County, and specifically District Five, are very engaged, are very informed, and are making their own decisions."
In a statement, DeBoles-Johnson thanked her supporters saying, “our grassroots movement continues into the November elections.”
