Democratic state Rep. Allison Tant is running for Florida House District 9 unopposed in November 2022.

Tallahassee Democratic state Rep. Allison Tant’s campaign to keep her seat is all but won.

Tant's name is the only name that will appear on November's ballot for House District 9, which includes the northwest part of Leon County, along with most of Jefferson County and all of Madison County. She's seeking her second term in office. Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Republican Ashley Guy, who owns Tallulah CBD + Juicebar, had qualified to run against Tant last week. But she officially withdrew from the race on Monday because she hasn’t been registered with the GOP long enough to seek the party’s nomination.

Guy was only registered as a Republican for more than two months before she qualified for to seek office, but state law requires primary candidates to have been registered with their party for at least a year before the qualifying deadline.

Guy could still run to unseat Tant as a write-in candidate, but it's unclear if she plans to continue her campaign. Guy hasn't responded to a request for comment for this story.

The political newcomer sent a letter withdrawing from the race to state elections officials on Monday, but her name wasn't removed from the list of candidates posted on the state Division of Elections' website until later in the week.
