This fanciful mural in the Railroad Square Art Park is one of the many works that are included in the tour.

Public art is popping up all over Tallahassee, and a well-known local artist is giving guided tours to showcase many of these works.

Animal painter Pattie Maney is temporarily trading in her paintbrush for a minivan to show off the murals and sculptures that adorn the Gaines Street and Railroad Square districts.

"We can look at how it's made. We can talk about the artists themselves, many of them I know personally."

Maney said people can reserve the artistic treks through the Tours in Tallahassee website between February 10 and 28.

"It is booked for about an hour and a half and we can barely fit everything in that time. But it's wonderful because you can get out, take pictures of the art and ask questions."

Maney said she expects the idea of local art tours to continue and expand as time goes on.
