Tallahassee's Temple Israel was the site of Saturday's climate science presentation

The issue of climate change has been taken up by a wide variety of Tallahassee-area faith communities. The houses of worship have been hosting talks by noted climate scientists.

Saturday's Shabbat service at Temple Israel included a new dimension. Temple Trustee Claudia Sperber said it was a presentation by a group from outside the congregation.

"They are a group of incredibly inspirational, highly credentialed and dedicated climate scientists who are traveling the country."

The events, she said are organized locally by the Tallahassee Green Faith Alliance.

"It's a unique and awesome partnership of the faith community, the scientific community, the environmental community, all coming together for shared values around stewarding the earth."

One of the group's partners, Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Thomasville Road, will host a "Caring for God's Creation" symposium on Saturday, February 5th.
