North Florida Schools Announce Closures As Fred Becomes Tropical Storm Again

School districts from Walton County in the panhandle down to Liberty County will be closed Monday. Announcements came Sunday evening following recent weather reports which showed Fred restrengthening into a tropical storm.

The system has also moved slightly east again—with forecasters anticipating the Big Bend could begin to see impacts Sunday evening/Monday morning and possibly into late Monday afternoon and evening.

Tallahassee Community College has closed its Gadsden and Wakulla facilities.

Florida State University will allow its employees to work remotely, with the exception of essential employees.

Florida A&M University will be closed.

The following school districts are slated for closures Monday:

  • Gadsden County Schools
  • Franklin County Schools
  • Wakulla County Schools
  • Bay County Schools
  • Calhoun County Schools
  • Liberty County Schools
  • Jackson County Schools
  • Holmes County Schools
  • Seminole County Schools-GA
  • Gulf County Schools
  • Okaloosa County Schools
  • Walton County Schools
