Tallahassee's St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral officially welcomes a new permanent rector and dean this weekend. The congregation has had interim leadership since firing its founding rector nearly 3 years ago.
In 2018 that rector, Father Eric Dudley, was accused of sexual harassment and was relieved of his post. To keep the parish on track, the church brought Archbishop Robert Duncan out of retirement to be interim dean. Now, Cathedral Spokesman Will Henry Lawrence says much is about to change.
"We're hopefully coming out of this season of 'COVID-tide' and pandemic and being able to decrease our social distancing and mask necessities and come back all together and enter a new season and chapter in the life of St. Peter's."
This Sunday at 4:00 p.m. the cathedral will officially welcome Father Marcus Kaiser as the new permanent rector and dean. Kaiser has been on St. Peter's clerical staff since last fall.
