City of Thomasville's director of marketing and Thomasville Insight's podcast co-host Sarah Baggett hopes the podcast's format will help the city reach an audience it's currently missing out on.

The City of Thomasville has launched its first-ever podcast, Thomasville Insights. It’s targeted toward people who may not read the news or check social media but still want information on history, events, and the city’s daily operations.

“We’ll also be covering some of the city processes and operations like the annual budget and how that works. We’re going to take a look at what takes projects so long to get completed. We’re going to do a deep dive into that. We’re going to talk about energy efficiency. We’re going to talk about grant funding. All kinds of stuff, so it’s really going to run the gamut,” Podcast co-host and the city’s director of marketing, Sarah Baggett says.

Baggett says the podcast format was appealing because people could learn more about the city while on the go.

“People are busy. It’s a great way to spend your commute listening to that or if you got some downtime at the office or at home while you’re doing errands and that kind of thing,” Baggett says.

Baggett hopes the convenience of the podcast will help the city reach and engage more people.

“It’s really important to the city to practice transparency and communication with every single one of our citizens, and so this is another way to do that,” Baggett says.

Thomasville Insight's first episode is on Juneteenth, its local importance and history. It also highlights the city’s Juneteenth festival.
