A 4th full-service hotel property has just opened next to Tallahassee's College Town. The new Hyatt House Capitol University features 120 guest rooms, more than half of them with full kitchen facilities.
The hotel's General Manager Bo Schmitz said the opening comes just in time to handle out-of-town health care workers and others needing longer-term accommodations.
"The plan was to bring the Hyatt House extended stay property to Tallahassee well before the pandemic started. But it's certainly going to provide an added value to travelers as they choose a hotel in Tallahassee for whatever reason."
Schmitz said, the facility is prepared for the meetings market as well.
"We have small to mid-size meeting rooms, an outdoor patio that's great for evening receptions, full kitchen and catering capabilities, the 'H Bar' in our lobby that features a full bar for cocktails, beer and wine, so we have all of the bells and whistles to be able to accommodate a meeting and catering crowd."
Also unique, added Schmitz, is the hotel's use of works by hometown artists.
"We're featuring 5 local artists outside the building with sculptures and inside the building in the guest rooms and the lobby and it's just a really special place."
The new 5-story Hyatt House is located at the entrance to another special place, Tallahassee's Railroad Square Art Park.
