The Leon County Commission is considering a plan to buy the building that currently houses the supervisor of elections office.
The Leon County Voting Operations Center is suffering from ongoing roof leaks. A report from county staff members says the county has footed the bill for several repairs, but the leaks are continuing. Now the county is considering just buying the building with plans to make a larger repair.
Staff says that could be the cheapest option in the long run.
Officials estimate it could save more than $2 million over 20 years if the county purchases the property rather than continuing to rent.
The Leon County Commission is scheduled to discuss the issue during its Tuesday meeting.
