United Airlines has joined American and Delta in serving Tallahassee. The inaugural United flight came and went the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 18.
The first-ever United flight to Tallahassee was actually running a bit early when it pulled up to Gate B-6 a little before 5 p.m. Calling the arrival of United a "great day for Tallahassee," Mayor John Dailey said efforts are underway to increase the number of flights and carriers serving the Capital City.
"We are expanding and we are looking at all opportunities and options that are available."
That includes more in-Florida flights, in response to demand from state lawmakers and others. Still, there were dozens of passengers waiting to board the new United flight back to Houston on Wednesday. The daily non-stop featuring 50-seat regional jet aircraft arrives a few minutes before 5 p.m. and departs for Houston about a half-hour later.
