FSU Board Of Trustees Pick Members Of Presidential Search Advisory Committee

A statue depicts a Native American man, presumably a Seminole, riding a horse. The horse stands on its hind legs. The man raises a feathered spear into the air. The statue is on a cylindrical platform with the word, "unconquered," engraved on it. Above the statue, the sky is cloudy.

Current President John Thrasher is getting ready to retire as FSU begins searching for its next president.

The Florida State University Board of Trustees has created a committee to replace President John Thrasher. Board Chair Ed Burr says the 15-member committee will have an important job.

"Everyone understands the importance—it will be a national search. It will be a transparent search. It will be open and done under all the guidelines of the Sunshine laws, and it will be one that I think we'll be proud of and will encourage participation in," Burr says.

The search was kickstarted earlier than expected due to potential impacts from COVID-19. Committee members include Joe Camps, a former FSU Board of Trustees member, and DeVoe Moore, owner of the Tallahassee Automobile Museum. Thrasher will stay in his position until a new president is found.
