Sandbag locations are opening in Leon and Bay Counties ahead of Tropical Storm Laura. The system is expected to arrive in North Florida next week.

Sandbags can be found in Bay County at Peter Edwards Field in Panama City Beach, and the north side of Deer Point Dam Bridge. Bags can be bought at local hardware stores.

Leon County has opened the following locations for sand-bagging with bags and ties available. They are:

  • Leon County's Northeast Branch Library
  • Apalachee Regional Park
  • Fred George Park,
  • At the intersection of Oak Ridge Road at Ranchero Road

The openings come as the region prepares for Tropical Storm Laura. Its exact path is unknown but present projections show it could affect the panhandle starting next Tuesday.
