Good employee benefit packages are rare in the non-profit sector. Tallahassee's Institute for Non-Profit Innovation and Excellence has partnered with a local benefits company to make those services more widely available. The company is the Capital City's FBMC. Its Benefits Consultant Barb Brown said the firm has been customizing employee benefit programs for more than half-a-century.
"So we're able to take our expertise and apply that strategically to the size of those employers or in this case the size of those non-profits."
And since those non-profits are part of the Institute - which is called "INIE" for short - Brown sees her company providing yet another service.
"We would love to help INIE expand their program by bringing in new non-profits. It's that synergy. We want to help them, they want to help us. We want to put this together and both want to give back to those who are giving out."
Brown said the affordable benefit packages for non-profits can include such things as health insurance, retirement and financial planning services.
