Florida State University says Monday’s alert about a dangerous situation on campus was triggered when the Florida Department of Law Enforcement served a search warrant to a residence nearby.
The person FDLE was looking for, 22-year-old Vincent Bell, jumped from a second-story window and ran in the direction of FSU’s campus.
Inside Bell’s apartment, officers found a gun but did not say whether Bell had one on him as well. The university’s alert went out at 11:46 a.m. A follow-up at 1:15 p.m. said the situation was under control.
Two men, Travien Davis and Dimitri Rodriguez, were arrested. Davis is being charged with resisting arrest without violence. Rodriguez is being charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and unlawfully carrying a concealed gun.
The department had been investigating alleged illegal drug sales at the Department since May.
Bell remains at large. FDLE agents found marijuana, prescription pills, and two stolen guns.
