Governor Ron DeSantis’s new rules mean restaurants can now serve some customers in their dining rooms and in Tallahassee, several have taken advantage of the change. But not everyone agrees it’s a good move. Owners at other restaurants think it’s still too soon. Keith Baxter is one example. He owns Kool Beanz Café and says his restaurant has been closed up until now. His staff will start offering curbside pick-up—only—starting Wednesday.

“Kool Beanz dining room is a very small space with a low ceiling, we just didn’t want to do that," Baxter said. "Nor did we want to serve the tables wearing gloves and masks looking like somebody had just been out of the OR, just nothing about it seemed that it would work for us.”

Baxter says he is concerned reopening his dining room and outside seating could pose a health risk to employees and customers. He says when thinking of reopening he will follow science and listen to the doctors.
