Ex-TPD Cop Crump Pleads To Aggravated Assault

Former TPD Officer Vincent Crump 3/7/2018
Leon County Jail

A former Tallahassee Police officer accused of raping a motorist has agreed to a plea deal. Vincent Crump was tried twice, but both ended in mistrials.

The plea comes ahead of a Monday court hearing. Crump has plead to felony aggravated assault charges and will spend two months in jail. He’ll be placed on probation for another five years and will have to give up his law enforcement credentials. He won’t be able to work as a law enforcement officer in another state, and he’ll have to undergo a physchological exam.

If he completes the terms of the agreement he won’t have a felony record. Crump was initially charged with three counts of sexual battery.

Outgoing Tallahassee Police Chief Mike DeLeo fired Crump a day after the woman reported she’d been assaulted by Crump last year. She claims he pulled her over and told her he smelled marijuana in the car but that he could keep her out of trouble. She says she worried she would be arrested if she didn't go along with his demands.

According to the probable cause affidaivit, Crump followed the woman’s vehicle to Dorothy B. Oven Park where he had sex with her, before leaving. Crump and his attorney’s claim while his actions were immoral, he and the victim had consensual sex.
