The City of Tallahassee wants to increase workforce opportunities, improve safety and work toward infrastructure projects.

Director of Strategic Innovation, Christian Doolin, says the largest investment is a new headquarters for the Tallahassee Police Department.

“We’re looking at wellness and safety programing, classrooms, firing ranges, defense and tactical rooms, physical training rooms…so for that portion of the campus that we’re looking at building for our new community safety complex, we’re seeking some support and we’re requesting appropriations for that portion of our campus.”

Meanwhile, the city has added three more requests to address hurricane storm losses, strengthen homes to withstand storms, increase safety during disasters, and account for tax losses. The city has seven requests pending before state lawmakers.
